Holy Smoke Cyber Hub Review, Cyber Hub, DLF Cyber City, Gurgaon
Holy Smoke Cyber Hub is yet another addition to the G-Town American restaurants. As a contrast to brightly done American diners, Holy Smoke Cyber Hub is a distant cousin taking inspiration from dark diners of Brooklyn. The restaurant is based on a meat rail theme. So you see the same meat rail lining up the ceiling including protruding hooks. The furniture is blacked out too and then there is dark art on the walls. Appetising .. Well not quite. I felt the restaurant was dull being all black and dimmed out lighting. However, the suave Managing Director, Rohan Jaina was all out to please us.
As I was the last one to arrive, I offered my apologies and joined the table. I don’t think the servers noticed the new addition to the table. As a result, my cover took its own time to arrive and so did the water. In the meantime we cursed the Gurgaon traffic and waited for food service to commence. The focus of Holy Smoke Cyber Hub is on meat and on grilled meats specifically. The menu is extensively meaty to be a carnivore’s feast. Its a pity that vegetarians do not have many options out here.
Rohan took on the ordering upon himself stating “let me feed you” which was generous. He marched to the kitchen and organised the lineup. First to arrive were onion rings. They were uneven in size and due to heaviness of fried batter, I couldn’t taste the onions. Next came in the Chilly made with lamb which was a nice take. I would have liked to taste beef here, but this wasn’t bad either. At Rs.150 this one is actually a steal. The servers brought in a set of three sliders next – Porky (very nice), Classic Cheeseburger (fantastic) and Heartbreaker (sure was so didn’t impress me much).
As the mains came in from the kitchen, I was happy to see that the food was well and honestly cooked. The presentation was pretty and taste was intact. The Pork Belly Confit was a feast for both eyes and palate. The half rack of ribs were well done however, lacked the meat on the bone. The real treat was the Holy Smoke Cyber Hub Roast Chicken which was absolutely juicy and left me wanting for more.
We closed the meal with Apple Pie which was a disappointment. There was no Cheddar crust or the usual flavour of cinnamon. I guess when one outsources their bakery produce, they have to live with what the supplier provides.
In a nutshell, it was a mixed bag. Some good hits and some bad misses. However, I’ll surely recommend this to every lover of fine meat. Stay with the grills and you won’t go wrong ever at Holy Smoke Cyber Hub.
