Gurgaon: The MCG commissioner on Wednesday directed the officials to ensure that the 10 acres of land required to set up a waste-to-energy (WTE) plant at Bandhwari is ready by December 5 since CM Manohar Lal Khattar will lay its foundation stone on December 13. The directions were given in a meeting chaired by commissioner Mukesh Kumar Ahuja on Wednesday to review the preparedness at the site before the launch of the project.
An official said it was discussed in the meeting that the tentative time of the inauguration will be 12 noon and the CM will lay the foundation stone of the MCG’s new office building in Vyapar Sadan from the landfill site. “While reviewing the work, it was disclosed that pond number 7 and 8 need to be cleared from the site. We were told that one pond has been completely emptied and the process to empty another pond is also going on. Moreover, three trommels will be installed at the site to process two lakh metric tonne of waste, which is being transferred from the WTE plant area towards the back side of the landfill site,” said a senior MCG official. The commissioner will visit the landfill site on December 5 to again review preparedness for the inauguration ceremony and handover of land to Ecogreen.
A company was recently assigned the work to clear two lakh metric tonnes of waste from the Bandhwari landfill site so that the WTE plant can be established there. The company representatives in the meeting said that they made 634 trips on Wednesday to clear waste from the WTE site. They were directed to increase the number of trips so that the land is cleared by December 5.
“It has been directed to clear 10 acres of land by December 5 so that the MCG can handover the land to us by December 6 or 7, before the scheduled inauguration of the site on December 13. We were told that around 90% of land required to set up the WTE plant has been cleared,” said Suvendu Samantaray, GM operations, Ecogreen.
