17 Hryana cities in ‘very poor’ category as AQI gets worse

KARNAL: The air quality of Haryana again deteriorated on Tuesday as the air quality index (AQI) of 17 cities and towns slipped into the very poor to poor category. On Monday, the number of cities with spoiled air was only 12.

According to the Central Pollution Control Board bulletin, the AQI of seven cities – Jind (368), Kaithal (355), Faridabad (342), Bhiwani (327), Kurukshetra (319), Ballabgarh (311), and Sonipat (311) – remained very poor on Tuesday.
The AQI in Manesar (299), Charkhi Dadri (294), Gurugram (287), Rohtak (283), Ambala (283), Bahadurgarh (278), Karnal (252), Yamunanagar (212), and Narnaul (203) was in the poor category.
Air quality in the state capital Chandigarh was recorded at 235, which falls in the poor category, while the AQI of Panchkula, Sirsa, Panipat, Hisar, and Fatehabad was categorsied as moderate. There was not even a single city in Haryana, mentioned in the bulletin, where the AQI was satisfactory.
Meanwhile, 11 active fire locations were detected in the state on Tuesday, taking the total number of stubble burning incidents reported in Haryana this season between September 25 and November 8 to 2,624.
This figure is as recorded by the Haryana Space Applications Centre. The numbers are comparatively less as compared to the last year’s figures in the corresponding period.
