Gurgaon: The city saw another warm day on Sunday with the region continuing to experience dry weather.
While India Meteorological Department (IMD) observatory in the city did not record the day’s temperature, the nearby Ayanagar observatory registered a maximum of 33 degrees Celsius, two degrees below the seasonal average.
The minimum temperature stood at 23 degrees Celsius, slightly lower than the previous day’s 24.5 degrees Celsius.
The humidity levels throughout the day fluctuated between 55% and 85%, while brief cloud cover provided occasional relief from the heat.
Residents may experience an increase in temperatures, with no significant rainfall expected in the coming week, according to the IMD.
By Thursday, the mercury is projected to rise to 35 degrees Celsius as the dry spell persists. For Monday, the forecast predicts partly cloudy skies with temperatures expected to range between 24 degrees Celsius and 33 degrees Celsius, continuing the trend of warm days.
Meanwhile, the city’s air quality remained within the “satisfactory” range, with a reading of 78 on Sunday, up from 55 the previous day. The city recorded ” satisfactory” air past two days too.
Delhi too experienced a warm day on Sunday. Weather scientists predict that daytime temperatures will gradually increase, and the city may see westerly winds from Monday onwards, further reducing the chances of rain.
“From Monday onwards, we are expecting westerly winds which are dry, so the chances of any rain over the next few days are bleak,” said Mahesh Palawat, vice-chairman of Skymet Meteorology.
According to IMD, the line of withdrawal of the southwest monsoon continues to pass through Firozpur, Sirsa, Churu, Ajmer, Mount Abu, Deesa, Surendranagar, and Junagarh. Delhi on Sunday recorded maximum temperature at 34.7 degrees Celsius, normal for the season. Humidity oscillated between 88% and 61%.
