Asked to close shop, eatery owner & staff thrash cops

Gurgaon: The owner of an eatery near the city bus stand and his employees allegedly assaulted two constables and a sub-inspector on Sunday night after the three police officers asked them to closethe “illegal” shop while patrolling the area.
The police officers, on their way to the Sheetla Mata junction from the bus stand, spotted a crowd near the eatery and advised the owner to close shop because it was late. However, they found the eatery open during a second round of patrolling. Kartar Singh, the sub-inspector, approached the owner then and inquired why he had not closed shop yet.
“The owner was inebriated, and he began abusing the sub-inspector and two constables (Ankit and Praveen Kumar). He also assaulted the policemen, but there were no major injuries,” said a police officer.
Police said eatery owner Rajinder Kumar is from Patel Nagar in Gurgaon, and his two employees, Ajay and Dinesh, are from Uttar Pradesh.
Police arrested the accused and registered an FIR at the Sector 14 police station under Indian Penal Code sections 186 (whoever voluntarily obstructs any public servant in the discharge of his public functions), 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) and 34 (common intention).
