Gurgaon: A 45-year-old canter driver died after his vehicle rammed into a stationary truck on Dwarka Expressway on Sunday morning. The accident occurred while he was driving from Delhi to Manesar. A case of a fatal road accident was registered against the truck driver, who is currently on the run, cops said.
Canter driver Md Noor Khan was a resident of Phulaut village in Madhepura district of Bihar and a resident of Shakurpur Basti in Delhi.
According to police, the accident occured when the driver of an 18-wheel truck abruptly stopped his vehicle on the expressway to fix a flat tire without turning on emergency lights or indicators of his vehicle.
“Khan did not notice the stationary truck in time and crashed into its rear portion,” said SI Narpal Singh.
The SI added that the impact of the collision completely mangled the canter’s driver cabin, leaving Khan with severe injuries.
Subsequently, passersby alerted the police, and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) patrolling team and police rushed to the scene.
A crane was used to pull back the canter, and Khan was extricated from the crane and he was immediately taken to Civil Hospital in Sector 10, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
The complainant, Sahil Khan, the canter driver’s son said, “The driver didn’t turn on the indicators orplace safety cones to warn other vehicles. This negligence cost my father his life.”
