City gets 20k Covishield doses; 44 session sites today


Gurgaon: The city received 20,000 doses of Covishield on Sunday. After receiving the doses, the health department has decided to set up 44 government session sites on Monday.
Officials said that the first and second dose of Covishield will be administered at 38 sites, where 50 slots will be available for the first dose and 200 for the second dose. Second dose of Covaxin will be given at five centres. One centre will be set up at Sector 31 Polyclinic, where 100 slots will be available for Sputnik V jabs.
“We have received 20,000 Covishield doses today (Sunday) and therefore we will be carrying out 44 sessions on Monday. We are not giving the first Covaxin doses in the city yet as its supply is limited. At present, we are focusing more on the second dose of Covaxin,” said Gurgaon’s chief medical officer Dr Virender Yadav.
Meanwhile, a total of 5,535 people in the 18-44 age group got inoculated on Sunday. In the 45-plus category, 2,052 recipients took the shot. As many as 37 healthcare staff and 95 frontline workers also received jabs on Sunday. In all, 7,719 doses were administered at private vaccination centres, of which 5,277 recipients took the first dose and 2,442 took the second dose.
10 new cases
The city on Sunday reported 10 fresh cases of Covid-19 taking the caseload to 1,80,799, of which 74 cases are active. The positivity rate stands as 0.1%. On Sunday, no Covid deaths were reported. Eight people also recovered, taking the total number of recoveries to 1,79,806. The recovery rate stands at 99.6%. A total of 63 patients are in home isolation while 11 are in hospitals.
