GURGAON: With isolated spells of drizzle only in a few areas, rain eluded most parts of the city on Friday. However, cloudy skies and winds with a speed up to 15 kmph brought down the day temperature by over four degrees.
The maximum temperature dropped to 27.8 degrees Celsius — two notches below season’s normal— while it was recorded at 32 degrees Celsius on the previous day. The minimum temperature also plunged from Thursday’s 19.3 degrees Celsius to 17.4 degrees Celsius, according to the meteorological department.
“A cyclonic circulation over northeast Rajasthan persists and a trough runs from northeast Arabian sea to cyclonic circulation over northeast Rajasthan. Under its influence, light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning are likely to be witnessed till March 20,” an IMD official said. Meanwhile, the city’s air quality index (AQI) improved within the moderate category on Friday. The overall index was 154 as compared to 176 on Thursday.
