GMDA to build flyovers at 2 busy junctions

Gurgaon: In a bid to streamline vehicular movement and ease traffic congestion, GMDA plans to construct two flyovers, one at Sector 85-86 intersection, and another at Ambedkar Chowk.
The intersection of Sector 85-86 at the roundabout (Dadi Sati Chowk) near Aarvy Hospital, connects Manesar and the Dwarka Expressway. The junction has been a major bottleneck due to traffic coming from both directions.

GMDA has estimated the project cost to be Rs 59 crore.
The flyover is likely to be designed for four lanes, with two lanes on each side, and is expected to be 800 meters long. However, residents argue that the two lanes may not be adequate to handle the heavy traffic flow from Dwarka Expressway and could create future bottlenecks.
Praveen Malik, RWA president of Sare Home said, “The proposal for the construction of the flyover is still in the initial stage and it will take some time to materialise on ground. However, GMDA needs to take immediate measures such as installing height barriers towards the Manesar side to curb the plying of heavy trailers and trucks, and traffic signals at the roundabout to address the existing snarls,” Malik said.
The second flyover will be built for approximately Rs 52 crore near Artemis Hospital.
“This is going to benefit the residents of Sector 52, Ardee City, sectors 56 and 57 among others. We had put this proposal last year. We welcome this step. I hope the construction work will get completed in a time-bound manner,” said Praveen Yadav, RAC member of GMDA and president of Ardee City’s RWA.
Arun Dhankar, chief engineer of GMDA Infra-1, said, “The proposal will be put up before the authority in the upcoming meeting. Both projects will cost around Rs 110 crore.”
After the proposed projects are approved by the authority, GMDA will invite bids for construction. The projects are expected to be completed within two years after the work is allocated to a contractor.
