Gurugram targets to inoculate 1.5 lakh over three days

GURUGRAM: In an effort to get all eligible recipients vaccinated, the Haryana government has planned to administer 18 lakh Covid jabs over the next three days. The mega vaccine drive will be launched on Tuesday.
The state has so far administered first doses to 83% of the eligible population and second doses to 33%. All districts have shared a list separately to take action on the vaccination pace. Gurugram and Faridabad have been given the highest target of 1.5 lakh for immunisation in the next three days, followed by Hisar at 1.2 lakh. Similarly, the target is 1.05 lakh in Kaithal, Yamunanagar, Sonipat and Karnal, 90,000 in Ambala and Bhiwani, 75,000 in Panipat, Rohtak, Sirsa, Rewari, Mahendergarh, Jhajjar and Jind, Kurukshetra (60,000), Palwal (60,000), Fatehabad (45,000), Nuh (45,000) Panchkula (45,000) and Charkhi Dadri (30,000).
In view of the festival season, the next 100 days are critical, according to the health department. With a view to mitigate a possible third wave, all districts are directed to ensure that all festivities should be muted. Vaccination booths to be set up at places of upcoming events. Separate exit and entry points is mandatory at all places of worship.
The district will set up 136 government vaccination sessions on Tuesday. Of these, Covishield will be given at 130 sites, Covaxin at five sites and Sputnik V at one site.
A total of 8,877 people in the 18-44 age group got inoculated on Monday. In the 45-plus category, 1,174 people took the shots. As many 11 frontline workers also received the jabs. In all, 10,065 jabs were administered. On Monday, 4,926 first doses and 5,139 second doses were administered. At present, the city is aggressively administering second doses to the recipients. The plan is to have 80% of doses reserved for the second dose recipients daily in the city with a view to inoculate them at the earliest. Several sessions are being held in temples at present in the city keeping in mind the beginning of the festival season.
4 new cases in city
The city witnessed four fresh cases of Covid-19 on Monday taking the caseload to 1,81,274, of which 49 are active cases. The positivity rate stands as 0.1%. Nine people also recovered.
