Gurgaon: A man has been arrested for allegedly attempting to extort Rs 10 lakh from a superintendent of the irrigation and water resources department, police said on Thursday. The accused has been identified as Punit Kaushik, a resident of Faridabad’s Sihi village. Kaushik allegedly called the official on WhatsApp and threatened to kill him if Rs 10 lakh was not paid.Based on a complaint, a case was filed at the Civil Lines police station in Oct 2023. The Sector 17 crime branch arrested Kaushik on Wednesday. He was sent to two days’ police remand on Thursday. pti
