Gurgaon: Light showers are in store for the city for three days after hot and dry weather conditions for the past couple of weeks. According to the IMD, a fresh western disturbance will affect the western Himalayan region from Saturday night, bringing light to moderate spells of rain to the city.
This will also cool down the city as the daytime temperature is likely to fall to 28-31 degrees Celsius next week. An IMD official said a western disturbance trough is in the middle tropospheric area at present, with an induced cyclonic circulation over central Pakistan and the neighbourhood in the lower tropospheric levels.
“The western disturbance will cause widespread rainfall in many parts of Punjab and north Haryana. Scattered to fairly widespread rains are likely to be witnessed in south Haryana, including Gurgaon, with peak intensity on Monday. This spell will be accompanied by lightning and thunderstorms. The temperature may drop by 2-4 degrees,” the official said.
Saturday was sunny with the maximum temperature at 36.5 degrees Celsius, up from 34.6 degrees the day before. It was four notches above normal for this time of year. The minimum temperature was 19.4 degrees Celsius, a notch above normal, from 18.3 degrees Celsius on Friday.
Sunday will be partly cloudy with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers. The minimum and maximum temperatures are expected to hover around 23 and 35 degrees Celsius, respectively.
Meanwhile, the city’s air quality remained ‘moderate’ on Saturday at 156, from 177 the previous day.

October heat on in Mumbai, temperature up almost 3 degree Celsius in 1 day
The temperature in Mumbai rose significantly on Monday, with the mercury reaching 35.9C at the Santacruz observatory. The humidity was also high, at 71%. Meteorologists attribute the rise in temperature to dry air caused by easterly winds. The high temperatures are expected to continue for the next few days. The week began with a warm foggy morning, which is common at this time of year due to trapped moisture and calm conditions.
Study reveals that average body temperature is no longer 98.6 degrees
A recent study by Stanford Medicine researchers has found that the commonly believed normal body temperature of 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit is not accurate for everyone. Body temperature varies from person to person and is influenced by factors such as age, gender, weight, and height. Over the past century, the average body temperature of Americans has decreased by approximately 0.05 degrees Fahrenheit. Recognizing what constitutes a medical-grade fever is important, with a temperature exceeding 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit indicating a fever. Fever-reducing medication may not always be necessary if the individual is still sleeping and eating normally.
