Service road near Sector 59 may be ready in 6 months

Gurgaon: The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) is planning the construction of a service road along the road linking sectors 59 and 61, which would likely make travelling easier for commuters and residents of these sectors.
The 200m long service road will cost the authority Rs 41.6 lakh and take around six months to complete, according to GMDA.
“During our visits to these sectors, we noticed a service road was missing, so we began looking into the possibility of constructing the same to ease travel for commuters in the area,” said a senior GMDA official, who did not want to be named.
The project came up for discussion during a meeting of the Core Planning Cell (CPC) of the GMDA in September. Officials at the meeting spoke about the need for a “left-out service road” along the stretch. The CPC then sanctioned the project, and the service road details got included on the GMDA website and the authority sought public opinion on the same.
“We have acquired the land required for the construction of the road. We are now clearing the trees falling in the alignment of the road and transplanting them. The project primarily involves the construction of the road, but we will also ensure that it has road markings made with thermoplastic paint,” said the official.
GMDA has shared the tender for the project and is currently seeking online bids through the e-tendering mode. The project defect liability cum maintenance period is four years.
“Once the project gets allotted, work will begin on the ground,” added the official.
