union minister slams haryana public service commission selections at varsity event

HISAR: The recruitment process of Haryana Public Service Commission (HPSC) was targeted at the second convocation ceremony of Lala Lajpat Rai University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (LUWAS) held at Indira Gandhi Auditorium of Haryana Agricultural University (HAU) on Saturday on the occasion of the 158th birthday of freedom fighter Lala Lajpat Rai.
Governor Bandaru Dattatreya was the chief guest in this convocation and the minister of state for animal husbandry, fisheries and dairying Sanjeev Balyan presided while state agriculture minister J P Dalal and local body minister Kamal Gupta were present as special guests.
During the ceremony, Union minister Sanjeev Balyan, who is also an alumnus of HAU, said those who pass the ASRB (assistant scientist recruitment board) exam, the country’s biggest exam for the recruitment of scientists, are failing in the HPSC exam. He said HPSC recruited 600 posts of ADO (agriculture development officer) and kept 50% marks as pass mark in the written examination and only about 60 candidates were able to pass.
“What kind of questions were set that even those who passed the ASRB exam could not clear this exam,”Balyan said. He said no matter how difficult the question paper may be, setting a bar of 50% marks is wrong. He said there were wrong answers to 26 questions in the recruitment of Veterinary, which raises a question mark on the entire recruitment process.
He said he also talked to the chairman of HPSC about this.
