Road rage: Property dealer, friend beaten up by 2

By Times of India – Road rage: Property dealer, friend beaten up by 2 Gurgaon: In a case of road rage, a property consultant and his friend were allegedly thrashed by two youths following a quarrel over allowing passage of the latter’s Ford Endeavour while the road was blocked in Sector 38. Their ordeal did not end there as the accused subsequently tailed the property consultant’s car and threw bricks on the vehicle due to which its window panes broke. The two accused have been booked, police said. The alleged crime occurred on Friday evening when property consultant Praveen Kumar, a resident of Sector 38, was on his way to meet a client, along with his friend. They were travelling in Kumar’s XUV 500 on the service road of Sector 38. However, Kumar was forced to stop the car in the middle of the road due to a mini-truck stuck in mud blocking their way. “Soon, the Endeavour came from behind and the driver started blowing the horn. As we could not move due to the blockade, the SUV driver hit my car from behind after blowing the horn a few times,” said Kumar. “And as soon as I stepped out of my car to check, the SUV driver and his ‘friend’ picked up an argument with me and they attacked me and my friend. They subsequently followed our car and threw bricks on it.” On the basis of his complaint, a case has been registered under sections 323 (causing hurt), 506 (criminal intimidation), 427 (causing damage) and 34 (common intention) of IPC at the Sadar police station. “The window panes of my vehicle broke and we were injured too. My laptop kept on the back seat of the car also suffered damage,” said Kumar. Police spokesperson Subhash Boken said that initial investigation had revealed that the suspect and victim knew each other as they used to go to the same gym earlier. “We are verifying if the crime was a fallout of any personal enmity,” he said.
